A capacity building workshop on “Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment in Highlands: Challenges and Opportunities” was conducted at the Nam Thong Nan Hotel in Nan Province on 4th and 5th July, 2022.
The workshop was conducted with an aim to build the capacity of central and provincial government officials from the technical departments to promote and facilitate incorporation of climate change agenda in development plans and decision making especially in the agricultural sector. The workshop mainly focused on understanding of climate change impacts and vulnerability assessment in highland agriculture.
More than 120 participants from ADB, different ministries, local government agencies, development partners, academic institutions, and private sector witnessed the workshop whereas more than 40 local governmental officials (mostly from Highland provinces of Thailand) were trained at the workshop.
The objectives of the workshop were:
- To develop the understanding of the elements and process of climate change, vulnerability assessment and adaptation in agriculture sector.
- To enhance the understanding of data need, data analysis tools and techniques for climate change vulnerability assessment.
- To build the capacity of governmental officials to mainstream climate change vulnerability assessment in decision making process.
